Mound Key Adventure Tour

Time: 9:00 am til 3:00 pm

Location: Lover's Key to Mound Key

Description: Come on a journey into the past where you can learn about the Calusa capital, located within Estero Bay to this day! Mound Key resides 30 feet above the waters of Estero Bay, one of the highest elevation in Lee County and consists of 6 mounds. This adventure tour consists of kayaking from Lover's Key to Mound Key, a two hour journey both ways (not for the faint-hearted). Once arriving on the North End of Mound Key you will be guided through the shell mounds while learning the history of this once inhabited cultural center and have the opportunity to hear from Dr. Victor Thompson and Dr. William Marquardt, two of the leading archaeologist in Southwest Florida who are currently excavating the site.
Mound Key is an island within Estero Bay, the only way to travel to it is via water. It takes approximately 2 hours to kayak from Lover's Key to Mound Key so prepare for a long journey; bring sunscreen, water, snacks, hats, and comfortable shoes to walk in. This adventure tour is being geared towards intermediate kayakers, meaning those with experience kayaking. Come join us at FPAN on this adventure journey for this amazing opportunity to stand at one of the highest elevation in Lee Co
