Description: Friends of Barefoot Beach Preserve present "Ramblings of an Old Warden" by Ed Carlson.

Meet at the Learning Center at Barefoot Beach Preserve. Program Cost: Free (There is an entrance fee into the park for those who do not have a current Collier County beach permit.) Directions: Turn south off Bonita Beach Drive onto Barefoot Beach Blvd. go about 1 ½ miles to park entrance. Park in the first parking area on the right and meet at the Learning Center. For Over 150 Yrs: Remem. African American Contributions to Fort Myers

Time: 10:00 am til 2:00 pm

Location: Celmente Park, Fort Myers

Description: Join the Lee County Black History Society and the Florida Public Archaeology Network for a free public event highlighting the efforts of African-Americans during the Battle at Ft. Myers and beyond. The event will be on Saturday, February 28th from 10am to 2pm at the Lee County Black History Museum and Clemente Park. Whether you come for the 2nd Infantry Regiment US Colored Troop Reenactment unit, the historical exhibits, or the wide variety of family-friendly events, you will leave with a better understanding of Ft. Myers’ past. In addition, this exciting outdoor event will feature keynote speaker Dr. William Lees presenting on Civil War history as well as exhibits of Civil War artifacts.
