Time: 2:00 pm til 3:00 pm
Location: Collier County Museum, Naples
Description: In 1928 the opening of the Tamiami Trail (US 41) changed the face of South Florida for generations to come. The construction of the road was a feat likened to the construction of the Panama Canal. Today we think nothing of the roadway, at the time of its completion it was considered an engineering marvel that opened the vast wilds of the Everglades. Join park ranger Bob DeGross for a brief history of the construction of the road and the associated Monroe Station. ! Program begins at 2 p.m. Reservations required. For more information, please call (239) 252-8738.
