Description: Emancipation Day has historically been a day of great celebration for many Floridians. Join Charlotte County Community Services and the Blanchard House Museum of African American History at the historic Charlotte County Courthouse Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 2pm for the Emancipation Day Celebration Event.
Located at 226 Taylor Street in Punta Gorda, this event is FREE and open to the public. Come listen to guest speaker Adam Wasserman, a Sarasota-born local historian and author of "A People's History of Florida: How Africans, Seminoles, Women, and Lower Class Whites Shaped the Sunshine State."
