Preservation Paths: Exploring Ancient Mounds

Time: 2:00 pm til 3:30 pm

Location: 100 Hollywood Blvd. West, Mary Esther, FL 32569

Description: Join FPAN on this hour long stroll down trails in Oak Tree Nature Park, where an archaeological site is located, in Mary Esther that will focus on the use of the area by Native Americans! Hikers will meet inside the Mary Esther Library on Saturday, April 12, at 2:00 p.m. for a brief presentation immediately followed by a guided hike in the park. The program is free and limited to 30 participants (RSVP is required).

Participants will learn about Native American history in Northwest Florida, what archaeology can tell us about prehistoric Native American sites, and how we can preserve and protect these non-renewable cultural resources. Hikers should dress for the weather and wear closed toed shoes. Drinking water is recommended.
