Emancipation Day Celebration

Time: 11:30 am til 2:00 pm

Location: Knott House Museum

Description: The Knott House and the John G. Riley Museum commemorate the announcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Tallahassee with this annual event. Locally, the Proclamation was announced from the Knott House on May 20, 1865. Join us for a reading of the Proclamation, reenactors, period music, and a lunch in Lewis Park. The event is free and open to the public.

The celebration is sponsored by the City of Tallahassee; Hopping, Green, and Sams, P.A.; Tallahassee Downtown; Sonny's BBQ; Friends of the Museums of Florida History, Inc.; and the Council on Culture and the Arts.

FPAN is posting this event as a courtesy, we will neither be hosting nor attending this event.
