Lecture: "First the Bicycle, Then the Vote"

Time: 2:00 pm til 3:00 pm

Location: Collier County Museum, Naples

Description: Women’s Suffrage leader Susan B. Anthony once noted “bicycling had done more to emancipate women than anyone thing in the world.” Many inventions, events and people have contributed to the transformation of the role of women in America over the last 150 years. Notable women created new positions for themselves in various segments of civilization. Others joined them along the road. Meet cogs in the wheels of change as Miss Anthony and Emma Willard, as well as Collier County spokes as Mother Perry and Lily Williams. Discover the trip women have taken into 21st Century America. Program held in conjunction with Women’s History Month. Free admission. Reservations suggested. Program will begin at 2 p.m. For more information, please call (239) 252-8738.
