Etruscan Human Sacrifice in Ritual and Myth

Time: 12:00 pm til 1:00 pm

Location: Room 1209, Building 51 at the University of North Florida

Description: Scholars have been reluctant to believe that the Etruscans, who inhabited parts of Italy from 700 B.C. until the 4th century B.C., practiced human sacrifice. Dr. de Grummond will present literary, archaeological and iconographical evidence to explain what she has found in her decades of field work in Italy regarding this sacrificial practice. The lecture is free and open to the public. Complimentary refreshments will be served afterwards. On Saturday, parking is free and the faculty/staff/vendor spaces are available to everyone. For more information contact Melva Price at (904)241-9411.
