Zoom into Archaeology: Archaeo-astronomy

Time: 3:30 pm til 4:30 pm

Location: Online; Central Time

Description: Join us for the next installment of FPAN's "Zoom into Archaeology" series: "Archaeo-astronomy: Exploring Human Connections to the Sky and Beyond" by FPAN Public Archaeologist Nicole Grinnan!

Humans looking to understand their place in the universe have often looked to the sky and its celestial objects for meaning. "Archaeo-astronomy," a fascinating subfield of archaeological research, has the potential to shed light on the beliefs of past people and cultures as they relate to the universe around them. Despite often being co-opted by conspiracy theorists and sensationalists, "archaeo-astronomy" can help researchers better understand triumphs of human culture and understanding over thousands of years. Join us for a presentation that explores human connections to the sky and beyond through fascinating examples of archaeological artifacts, features, and landscapes from across the United States!
