Description: Join the Florida Public Archaeology Network and Historic Pensacola as we co-host a kayak tour on Pensacola Bay! The "Pensacola Bay Past and Present" tour will last approximately 2 hours and will feature a 2-mile kayaking route that explores the amazing ecology and history of just one small stretch of beautiful Pensacola Bay.
This event is open to the public, but RSVPs are required. Space is limited to 12 participants, so please e-mail ngrinnan@uwf.edu to reserve your spot. This tour is offered for free, but cash donations at the end of the tour are much appreciated and help us continue to offer other amazing learning opportunities!
Tour participants will meet at 9:30am at the Florida Public Archaeology Network Coordinating Center. We will have a short introduction and safety briefing, then walk next door to Bartram Park to launch our watercraft.
Although we recommend kayaks for this tour, any non-motorized watercraft is welcome (canoes, stand-up paddle boards, etc.). All participants must bring their own watercraft. This tour is recommended for ages 13+; participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Description: Join us for the next installment of FPAN's "Zoom into Archaeology" series with "Introduction to Archaeology for Kids!" by FPAN Public Archaeologist Nicole Grinnan.
What do archaeologists do, exactly? If dinosaurs and rocks come to mind, this is the presentation for you! Learn about the science of archaeology, its role as part of the field of anthropology, where archaeologists work, and how they discover and protect our cultural heritage. This fun and informative presentation sets the stage for understanding how archaeology preserves our past for the present and future.
This presentation is most appropriate for ages 6-12, but all are welcome.

"Zoom into Archaeology" is a free online series that features a short presentation by an archaeologist via Zoom and an opportunity for participants to ask questions at the end of the presentation (duration is about one hour total).
Space is limited, however, and a password will be required for access. RSVP for this presentation at the link below. NOTE: Zoom requires parental consent for children.
