Zoom into Archaeology: They're Still Here - The People of 1821

Time: 3:30 pm til 4:30 pm

Location: Online; Central Time

Description: Join us for the next installment of FPAN's "Zoom into Archaeology" series: "They're Still Here: The People of 1821" by UWF Archaeology Institute Archaeologist Jennifer Melcher! This special edition presentation celebrates the 200th anniversary of Escambia County, Florida.

Historic St. Michael's Cemetery was originally established as a burial ground towards the end of Pensacola's Colonial period. The cemetery is the final resting place of many of the residents of Pensacola's Second Spanish and American Territorial periods. As part of the 1821 celebration a new virtual walking tour has been created using the ArcGIS Story Maps platform. This presentation gives a little additional background on the cemetery highlighting the development of the cemetery and changes in cemetery architecture through time.

This presentation is most appropriate for teens and adults, but is family-friendly.
