Zoom into Archaeology: Rising Tides and Racism

Time: 3:30 pm til 4:30 pm

Location: Online; Central Time

Description: Join us for the next installment of FPAN's "Zoom into Archaeology" series: "Rising Tides and Racism: Addressing Contemporary Problems through Public Archaeology" by FPAN Northeast and East Central Region Director Sarah Miller!

We often think of archaeology as something that happened hundreds or thousands of years ago, but really archaeologists are interested in how cultures change over time, how they adapt, and how those living today can take that knowledge and apply it to contemporary issues. This talk will address contemporary issues and highlight FPAN programs in place to help raise awareness and literacy, including impacts of climate change on heritage sites and racism in the form of neglected African-American cemeteries.

This presentation is most appropriate for teens and adults, but is family-friendly.
