Zoom into Archaeology: Coco Picantes - Tasting Ancient Origins

Time: 3:30 pm til 4:30 pm

Location: Online; Central Time

Description: Join us for the next installment of FPAN's "Zoom into Archaeology" series: "Coco Picantes: Tasting the Ancient Origins of My Favorite Cookie" by Florida State University Associate Professor of Anthropology Dr. Tanya Peres!

Have you ever wondered about the ancient history of the baking ingredients in your pantry? Archaeologists around the world trace the use, domestication, and trade in foods over thousands of years of human history. Today's talk highlights the ancient origins of traditional, and for some of us not-so-traditional, baking ingredients. Dr. Tanya Peres, Associate Professor of Anthropology at Florida State University, shares her favorite cookie recipe, cocoa picantes, a melting pot of ingredients that originate from all over the ancient world. Dr. Peres encourages you to make the cocoa picantes ahead of time to snack on during the talk! Find the recipe at the "View Flyer" link below.
