Zoom into Archaeology: From Ochuse to Panzacola

Time: 3:30 pm til 4:30 pm

Location: Online; Central Daylight Time

Description: Join us for the next installment of FPAN's "Zoom into Archaeology" series: "Exploring Pensacola's Native American Past from the Sixteenth to Seventeenth Centuries" by UWF Archaeology Graduate Student Courtney Boren!

Today's Pensacola may have been named after the Panzacola people, but they were not the first Native American tribe documented in the area. This presentation will highlight historical documents about the Ochuse and the Panzacola tribes, "digging" into the archaeology that helped shape current interpretations about Native American culture in the Pensacola area during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

This presentation is most appropriate for teens and adults, but is family-friendly.

"Zoom into Archaeology" is a free online series that features a short presentation by an archaeologist via Zoom and an opportunity for participants to ask questions at the end of the presentation. Space is limited, however, and a password will be required for access. RSVP via the link below.
