Description: Join Florida Public Archaeology Network - Northwest Region and Historic Pensacola as we co-host a kayak tour on Pensacola Bay in celebration of Florida Archaeology Month! The "Pensacola Bay Past and Present" tour will last approximately 2 hours and will feature a 2-mile kayaking route that explores the amazing ecology and history of just one small stretch of the beautiful Pensacola Bay.
This event is FREE and open to the public, but RSVPs are required. Space is limited to 20 participants, so please e-mail Mike Thomin at mthomin@uwf.edu to reserve your spot today!
Tour participants will meet at 10:00am at the Florida Public Archaeology Network Coordinating Center Classroom (207 East Main Street). Once we launch, the tour will make several stops to discover unique natural features of Pensacola Bay and the legacies of human interaction and industry over the last two hundred years!
Although we recommend kayaks for this tour, any non-motorized watercraft is welcome (canoes, stand-up paddle boards, etc.). All participants are required to bring their own watercraft.
This tour is recommended for ages 13+; participants under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
