Description: Join FPAN staff on a guided hiking tour of Oak Tree Nature Park in Mary Esther! Space is limited to 20 hikers. To reserve a spot email mthomin@uwf.edu.
Archaeology is like a window in time that can reveal how past people once lived. Over one thousand years ago what is now the 25 acre Oak Tree Nature Park was part of a Native American village site. On the hike you will learn how the Native Americans who first settled the site used the native plants and animals to make the area their home.
Participants will meet at the pavilion next to the parking lot at Oak Tree Nature Park at 10:00 a.m. for a brief introduction before the hike. We will hike along a 0.7 mile loop trail at a leisurely pace and make several stops along the way.
Hikers should dress appropriately for the weather, wear hiking footwear, and pack sunscreen, bug spray, snacks, and water.
Tour is recommended for ages 12+; participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
