Archaeology Day at the Florida State Capitol

Time: 10:00 am til 2:00 pm

Location: Florida State Capitol Rotunda, 400 South Monroe Street, Tallahassee, Florida

Description: On April 3, from 10am to 2pm (Eastern Time) various archaeological organizations will meet at the Florida Capitol at the first floor rotunda. The public and our state leaders are welcome to visit to learn about Florida’s unique archaeological heritage and how they can become involved in helping to protect it for future generations. Archaeologists will be on hand with information and to answer questions about their research, programs, and what is currently being done to protect sensitive archaeological sites.

Organizations in attendance will include those from the Florida Anthropological Society, Florida Archaeological Council, Florida Public Archaeology Network, University of West Florida, Florida State University, the Florida Division of Historical Resources, the Florida Park Service and more!

Archaeology Lab Volunteer Day

Time: 10:00 am til 4:00 pm

Location: FPAN Coordinating Center, 207 East Main Street, Pensacola, FL 32502

Description: The FPAN Archaeology Lab is open to volunteers throughout the year. Volunteers help rough sort artifacts recovered from local archaeological sites. No experience is needed, but all volunteers are given a brief orientation by a professional archaeologist on their first day!
