Archaeology Lab Volunteer Day

Time: 10:00 am til 4:00 pm

Location: FPAN Coordinating Center, 207 East Main Street, Pensacola, FL 32502

Description: The FPAN Archaeology Lab is open to volunteers throughout the year. Volunteers help rough sort artifacts recovered from local archaeological sites. No experience is needed, but all volunteers are given a brief orientation by a professional archaeologist on their first day!

Florida Panhandle National Heritage Area Meeting

Time: 1:00 pm til 2:30 pm

Location: Walton County Heritage Museum, 1140 Circle Dr. Defuniak Springs

Description: Join the Florida Public Archaeology Network (FPAN) and the Askew Institute for Multidisciplinary Studies (AIMS) for the sixth meeting regarding the possibility of designating the Florida Panhandle as a National Heritage Area (NHA) and latest updates on the feasibility study. NHAs in the USA are places where historic, cultural, and natural resources combine to form cohesive, nationally important landscapes. Unlike national parks, NHAs are large, lived-in landscapes. A designated NHA receives recurring Federal funding and technical support from the National Park Service.
