Description: Sea level rise and the erosion of Florida’s coastline threaten our shared cultural heritage. A one meter sea level rise will impact over 16,000 recorded sites. Can archaeologists and the public record them before it’s too late?

Join us for the next Archaeo Café and listen to FPAN Northeast Director Sarah Miller discuss a new program called Heritage Monitoring Scout (HMS Florida). HMS Florida is a public engagement program focused on tracking changes to archaeological sites at risk, particularly those impacted by climate change in the form of erosion and sea level rise. The public is encouraged to apply to the program and will receive monthly updates on training and resources available for HMS Florida participants statewide.

Sarah Miller's presentation will be followed by an open discussion. Archaeo Café is free and open to the community. Seating is unreserved and limited to 55 guests. The talk starts at 6:00 p.m. and guests are recommended to show up by 5:30 p.m. to receive food and drink orders before the talk begins.
