Pensacola History & Archaeology Summer Camp, Upcoming 4th-6th Grades

Time: 8:30 am til 12:30 pm

Location: Historic Pensacola Village, Downtown Pensacola, FL

Description: Watch the past come alive during this one-week social studies enrichment camp in historic Pensacola. Campers will learn history, archaeology and much more!

Your campers will:
-Discover the history and archaeology of the Pensacola area in engaging, hands-on ways
-Learn what it takes to be a professional historian and archaeologist
-Utilize critical thinking, inference, and deduction skills to conduct original research on historical and archaeological topics
-Work in groups and by themselves to complete daily activities, crafts, and experiments

Volunteer Field Lab at Luna Settlement Site

Time: 10:00 am til 2:30 pm

Location: UWF Field School Headquarters, 303 Chipley Avenue, Pensacola

Description: The University of West Florida's Division of Anthropology and Archaeology is offering a unique opportunity for members of the public to volunteer in the on-site field lab at the recently discovered 1559 Tristán de Luna land settlement site. Volunteers will learn what it takes to work in an archaeological lab and have the chance to chat with archaeologists, learn more about the Luna settlement, and be a part of a community effort!

Volunteer days are offered on some Tuesdays and Thursdays between June 7th and July 14th. Call UWF's Archaeology Lab today at 850-474-2087 to learn more and reserve your spot. Space is limited for each day, so call soon!
