24th Annual Candlelight Tour

Time: 12:00 pm til 5:00 pm

Location: Torreya State Park

Description: Visitors will enjoy authentic blacksmith demonstrations, civil war camp along with the firing of cannons, live bluegrass with local musicians, candle dipping and other exhibits. Kids can even see fire trucks up close and personal.

The Florida Public Archaeology Network will attend the event to install and unveil new wayside exhibits at the Confederate batteries located at the park. Additionally, archaeologist Brian Mabelitini from the archaeological firm Gray and Pape, INC. will deliver a lecture on the history and excavation of the batteries at 2:00 p.m. at the Historic Gregory House followed by an expert guided tour of the archaeological site. Mr. Mabelitini wrote his master’s thesis about the Civil War batteries located at Torreya State Park while attending the University of West Florida.

Tours of the Historic Gregory House will begin at 10:00 am and will continue every hour on the hour until 4:00 p.m. At sunset, the Historic Gregory House doors will be opened for a leisurely tour, free of charg
