Archaeology Lab Volunteer Day

Time: 10:00 am til 4:00 pm

Location: FPAN Coordinating Center, 207 East Main Street, Pensacola, FL 32502

Description: The FPAN Archaeology Lab is open to volunteers throughout the year. Volunteers help rough sort artifacts recovered from local archaeological sites. No experience is needed, but all volunteers are given a brief orientation by a professional archaeologist their first day.

Archaeology Lecture Series at Heritage Park

Time: 6:00 pm til 7:00 pm

Location: Indian Temple Mound Museum, 139 Miracle Strip Parkway SE, Ft. Walton Beach, FL

Description: The City of Fort Walton Beach Heritage Park and Cultural Center will host a free public lecture series in honor of the Indian Temple Mound Museum’s 50th birthday as an entity. This series will feature local archaeologists and topics will cover local archaeology sites and the cutting edge research going on right here in the Panhandle of Florida. The series will take place on Wednesdays and Tuesdays during the month of October.

-October 3: Dr. Prentice M. Thomas and Jan Campbell of Prentice Thomas and Associates Cultural Resources Management will present “The Perfect Storm in Historic Archaeology: A Study of Life in a Turpentine Camp.”
