Certified Interpretive Guide Training Workshop

Time: 8:00 am til 5:00 pm

Location: Guana-Tolomato-Matansas National Estuarine Research Reserve Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida

Description: Florida Public Archaeology Network in partnership with the National Association for Interpretation, is offering a professional certification course for individuals who will be delivering interpretive programs or having public contact at interpretive sites.

The CIG Program:
The Certified Interpretive Guide program is designed for anyone who delivers interpretive programs to the public. It combines both the theoretical foundations of the profession with practical skills in delivering quality interpretive programming to visitors.

Archaeology Lab Volunteer Day

Time: 10:00 am til 4:00 pm

Location: FPAN Coordinating Center, 207 East Main Street, Pensacola, FL 32591

Description: The FPAN Archaeology Lab is open to volunteers throughout the year. Volunteers help rough sort artifacts recovered from local archaeological sites. No experience is needed, but all volunteers are given a brief orientation.

Volunteer days are perfect for students needing volunteer hours for scholarships, individuals and groups interested in history and archaeology, as well as those wanting to get their hands dirty!

All ages are encouraged to participate; however, anyone under 17 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Individuals, families, and groups as large as 12 can be accommodated.

Please contact Irina Sorset, isorset@uwf.edu or (850) 595-0050 Ext 103, to volunteer and arrange a day and time. Volunteers are not required to commit to more than one day at a time.
