Present People, Past Landscapes: Revisiting Tallahassee's Mounds

Time: 10:00 am til 2:00 pm

Location: Museum of Florida History

Description: To celebrate Florida Archaeology Month, the Florida Department of State, Bureau of Archaeological Research and the Museum of Florida History will be hosting a series of talks and tours throughout the day that focus on the various archaeological mounds located in Tallahassee. The program and parking are free. For a detailed listing of the different presentations and tours, please visit the attached flyer.

Archaeology Storytime

Time: 10:30 am til 11:30 am

Location: LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library

Description: Our Past is a puzzle missing the box and most of its pieces. Archaeology helps us see the picture.

Includes a reading of The Warlord's Puzzle, by Virginia Walton Pilegard and hands-on activities.

This is a FREE program designed specifically for K-2.

Spring Nature Walk

Time: 10:30 am til 12:00 pm

Location: The Grove Museum

Description: Join Grove staff and the North American Butterfly Association – Hairstreak Chapter for a guided walk around the grounds and conversation about natural history, local ecology, and environmental sustainability.

In celebration of Archaeology Month, the Florida Public Archaeological Network will also be joining the walk to teach visitors about responsible archaeological site stewardship. We will learn about some of the historic glass and pottery found at The Grove Museum and opportunities for citizen science.
