Setting the Table

Description: Dr. Kathryn L. Ness, Curator of Collections at Plimoth Plantation, Massachusetts, presents research from her new book, “Setting the Table: Ceramics, Dining, and Cultural Exchange in Andalucía and La Florida.“ Dr. Ness uses documentary records and archaeological collections from three 18th-century households in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, and St. Augustine, Florida. She examines how individuals negotiated political and social changes in the 18th century Spanish Empire and the increasingly global trade network of the time.
