Time: 7:00 pm til 8:00 pm
Location: Jefferson County Courthouse, 1 Courthouse Circle, Monticello, FL 32344
Description: De Counts, a local historian and curator of the Keystone Genealogy Library, will explain how visitors traveled from northern states to Monticello, Florida by railroads that mostly ran along the coast. Once a person reached Georgia, they took a smaller line west through Waycross to Thomasville where they left the train and boarded a stage coach to travel to Monticello, Tallahassee, Quincy and other towns in north Florida. Ms. Counts will include a power-point presentation with pictures. She will also show three locations in the City of Monticello that once served as state coach stops.
