Archaeology in the Classroom Teacher Workshop

Time: 9:00 am til 12:00 pm

Location: B. Calvin Jones Center for Archaeology at the Governor Martin House (1001 DeSoto Park Dr)

Description: The Florida Public Archaeology Network (FPAN) will be conducting a workshop to introduce educators to archaeology and explain how it can be used in the classroom and incorporated into the existing curriculum. This workshop will include lessons from Project Archaeology, which is endorsed by the National Council for the Social Studies. It will also highlight some lessons from Beyond Artifacts, FPAN’s collection of lesson plans which adhere to the Sunshine State Standards. Archaeology is a multidisciplinary science that relies on skills from all subjects, and thus teachers of all subject areas are welcome to attend!

Pre-registration is required. Please contact Barbara Hines, Outreach Coordinator at bhines@uwf.edu or 850-877-2206 to register. Registration is limited to 20 people, registration deadline is July 20th
$15 suggested donation per registrant (will be collected at the beginning of workshop and will be accepted in the form of cash or check made out to UWF/FPAN)

*Those wishing to receive in-service credit must bring the required documentation with them to be signed after completion of the workshop
