Archaeo-Eco Kayak Tour

Time: 9:00 am til 12:00 pm

Location: Crystal River Preserve State Park

Description: Come paddle around St. Martins Marsh Aquatic Preserve with Florida Coastal Office and Florida Public Archaeology Network. During our trip on the Crystal River we’ll have a conversation about prehistoric people and their relationship to the different ecosystems throughout the rivers and estuaries.
TOUR FEES: Bring your own gear/kayak $20 • Gear/kayak supplied $25
Kayaks donated in part by A Crystal River Kayak Company. Only 10 rental boats available to rent and 15 participants...so sign up early!
MEET: @ 8:30am, in the water by 9:00am • Crystal River Preserve State Park • 3266 North Sailboat Ave. Crystal River, FL. 34428. We’ll launch from the Preserve.
BRING: Sunscreen, water, bug spray, and sun hat. In case of inclement weather, tour will be
rescheduled.
*If you rent a kayak, paddles and PFDs included; if you bring a kayak, you must bring your own
paddles and PFD.

Moon over Mounds

Time: 6:00 pm til 10:00 pm

Location: Crystal River Preserve State Park

Description: Prior to the regularly scheduled Moon Over the Mounds Tour at 8pm, Florida PublicrnArchaeology Network - Central Region will be presenting an Archaeology Works Expornfrom 6-8pm. Folks are encouraged to come participate in lots of hands-on activities from all of FPAN’s Archaeology Works workshops on topics like: prehistoric pottery, hunting technology, shell tools, ancient diets, and much more!
After the expo join us for the Moon over Mounds tour. Underneath the moonlit sky, join professional guides to learn more about these impressive mounds. Refreshments will be served before the walk and you can tour the museum and gift shop. Donations are welcome and encouraged to sustain future programming. This event is sponsored by the Friends of Crystal River State Parks, Inc.
