- Valentine’s Day at Crystal River State Parks -

CRYSTAL RIVER –Take your sweetheart on a special Valentine’s Day sunset cruise at Crystal River Preserve State Park on February 13th, 14th, or 15th. Depart from the Crystal River Preserve State Park Visitor Center dock at 5:30 pm for a delightful sunset cruise and travel out to the Gulf for a spectacular sunset. We will have valentine’s games and prizes as you relax for the evening retreat back to nature with refreshments and snacks provided. Advance tickets are available at the Preserve Visitor Center. The cost is $20.00 for adults, $15.00 for children 12 and under, age 6 and under is free. Call ahead at (352) 563-0450 for more information.

After the sunset cruise on February 14th, drive 2 miles to Crystal River Archaeological State Park for a romantic stroll at the Moon Over the Mounds at 8:00pm. The Pre-Columbian site is thousands of years old and is still shrouded in mystery. Underneath the moonlit sky, join Gary Ellis, archaeologist from Gulf Archaeology Research Institute, or other experienced guides to learn more about these impressive mounds. Moon Over the Mounds

Description:

See the mounds in a different light! Join a Ranger, Archaeologist or a Volunteer on a moonlit tour of Crystal River Archaeological State Park. The Pre-Colombian mound complex is a National Historic Landmark. Refreshments will be served before the walk and you can tour the museum and gift shop as well. Friday tours cancelled by weather will be held on Saturday, same time.

Everyone is welcome! This is a family-friendly walk; minors are welcome if accompanied by an adult. This is an easy ¾-mile walk on a sidewalk and a short grass trail. Interpretive stops along the way.

No equipment is necessary but bug spray and a flashlight are recommended!
