Archaeology Open House

Time: 4:00 pm til 5:30 pm

Location: Crystal River Archaeological State Park

Description: This Moon Over the Mounds tour will be preceded by an open house. FPAN will be out with atlatls, Crystal River Boat Builders will demonstrate canoe building, and Gary from GARI will teach us about replication archaeology.

The Open House will be from 4pm to 5:30pm. The Tour will commence at 8pm. Come on down to the open house, then enjoy a dinner before joining the tour.

And remember-- this is FREE to the public!

Moon Over the Mounds

Date: Friday, January 17, 2014 at 8:00 p.m.

Description:

See the mounds in a different light! Join a Ranger, Archaeologist or a Volunteer on a moonlit tour of Crystal River Archaeological State Park. The Pre-Colombian mound complex is a National Historic Landmark. Refreshments will be served before the walk and you can tour the museum and gift shop as well. Friday tours cancelled by weather will be held on Saturday, same time.

Everyone is welcome! This is a family-friendly walk; minors are welcome if accompanied by an adult. This is an easy ¾-mile walk on a sidewalk and a short grass trail. Interpretive stops along the way.

No equipment is necessary but bug spray and a flashlight are recommended!
