Silver River Knap-In and Stone Age Arts Festival

Time: 9:00 am til 4:30 pm

Location: Silver River State Park

Description: Expert flint knappers, archaeologists, potters, hide tanners, bow makers and other specialists in prehistoric skills will gather from across the eastern U.S. to demonstrate and sell their arts. Vendors will offer reproduction stone tools, raw stone, flint knapping tools, unique crafts, food and more. Please join the Silver River Museum and Environmental Education Center at the Silver River State Park on March 2-4, 2012.

Presentation: An Overview of the Fort King Historic Area

Time: 2:00 pm til 3:30 pm

Location: Ocala Art Center

Description: Gary Ellis, Archaeologist, and Director of Gulf Archaeology Research Institute (GARI) will give a presentation at the Ocala Art Center, at 2 p.m. on March 2, 2013. The talk will present an overview of the Fort King Historic Area’s progress to date with the development of the historic park. Gary Ellis will have select artifacts from his excavations at the Fort King National Historic Landmark.
