Nature Coast Civil War Reenactment

Time: 9:00 am til 5:00 pm

Location: Along US Hwy 19, about seven miles north of Crystal River, Florida

Description: The event opens at 9:00am on Saturday and Sunday, March 12th and 13th. Activities are continuous throughout the day, culminating in a clash of forces each afternoon at 2 pm. The camps will remain open to the public until 4:00 pm each day. Adult entrance fee is $5.00 and the student entrance fee is $2.00.

Calusa Heritage Days

Time: 10:00 am til 4:00 pm

Location: 13810 Waterfront Drive Pineland, Florida

Description: The Randell Research Center's Sixth Annual Calusa Heritage Day is scheduled for Saturday, March 12, 2011. This popular event focuses on regional archaeology, history, and ecology.Art, music, and replicative technologies, as avenues to learning/education about Pineland's heritage, are included. Activities for children and adults alike will be provided, and food and beverages will be available. Admission is $5 per person; children under 12 are admitted free. All proceeds benefit the education and research programs of the Calusa Heritage Trail, Randell Research Center.The day-long event (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) will take place at the Pineland archaeological site complex (13810 Waterfront Drive, Pineland) and will be centered around the Pavilion/Classroom and Calusa Heritage Trail. Visitors can expect a variety of activity, exhibit, and information stations located in these areas in a festival format as well as site tours. Examples of native plants with information about their many uses by early and contemporary people will be featured in the native plant tent and vendors will be on hand selling native plants suitable for southwest Florida.
